Tegenwoordig is hij assistant professor aan de Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, waar hij onderzoek doet naar het biologisch herstel na de catastrofe op Krijt-Paleogeengrens, en naar evolutie en klimaat in de Eocene broeikaswereld.
