Dr. Matúš Hyžný received his PhD. at the Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia in 2012, and since then he is a researcher at a full-time position there. During his postdoc research stay in 2013–2015 he was affiliated with Natural History Museum in Vienna, Austria. His research mainly focuses on systematics and biogeography of Cenozoic decapod crustaceans. However, he feels at home also with isopod crustaceans and other arthropod groups. He devotes much of his time to investigation of evolution and the fossil record of burrowing shrimps which belong among his favourite animals. He is happily married and has two children.
