Dr. Nicolas Thibault, associate professor (lektor) in paleontology at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, is expert on Late Cretaceous calcareous nannofossils. His research focusses on paleoenvironmental and paleoclimatological reconstructions, using micropaleontology, cyclostratigraphy, stable isotopes, integrated stratigraphy and carbonate sedimentology. Nicolas has received his PhD in Earth Sciences in December 2005 at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, France, on the biostratigraphy and paleoecology of calcareous nannoplankton from the Maastrichtian. After being assistant lecturer at the same university, he moved to Denmark, for a postdoc at the University of Copenhagen. followed by an appointment as assistant professor (Adjunkt) in Paleontology in 2009. Since November 2013, he is an associate professor in Paleontology in Copenhagen. Nicolas had published in a wide range of journals, on paleoclimatology, nannofossil stratigraphy and cyclostratigraphy. He has supervised 9 PhD students, is an edditorial board member of Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology and associate editor of Revue de Micropaléontologie.
